And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrick Backman (Novella)

And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you have ever lost someone, this book is made for you. I am a bit out of words, I can only say that it is tear-jerker and that led me to write a poem. There is so much truth in the story it is absolutely beautiful. I know the writer is famous for their other book and I can see clearly their writing is like the 'space' they talk about.

The writing might seem a bit too much at one point but reading it is totally worth it. The story is real, highly personal and so, universal and ofcourse, the stories-that-are-poetry kind.

It was thereauptic. Once you have lost someone, the grief never really goes, sadness is talked about but only few, like in this book truly detail the grief which stays.

Here are my favourite lines:

"Snow starts to fall in the square, the same wayvery small children cry, like it had barely started at first but soon like it would never end. Heavy, white flakes cover all of Grandpa’s ideas."

“Noahnoah, promise me something, one very last thing: once your goodbye is perfect, you have to leave me and not look back. Live your life. It’s an awful thing to miss someone who’s still here.”

"But one good thing with your brain being sick is that you’re going to be really good at keeping secrets. That’s a good thing if you’re a grandpa.”

“Darling obstinate you. It’s never too late to ask your son about something he loves."
